Solo Exhibition "Celestial City" at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio
This work is responding to the Chrysler Museum Glass collection, and the work of Stanislav Libensky & Jaroslava Brychtova. Their casted glass, Astronomical Calendar Sphere made in 1994 is a collaboration crafted from Libenskys sketches and later made into the large scale sculpture that we now see in the museum. Unfortunitly Libensky passed away in febuary of 2002 leaving his partner and spouse Jaroslava Brychtova behind. My works has stemed from the love of there work but also from the tradgedy of there loss. I am inspired by the connections we make and the human condition we occupy. Imagining that life continues after death in the city of light has fueled and shaped the making of this project. Using blown and sandblasted glass, as well as steel, paint and light the product of my imagination comes to life before you in an ode to love ones lost and hopes for the future.
